Hipsters, in today's sense, are a social group of people who to some extent despise the mainstream and strive for the greatest possible authenticity. They achieve this primarily with the help of quirky (un)fashion, their attitudes or style of expressing themselves. Although hipsters do not set boundaries in that to what extent they are to be independent of mass culture and which way they will be different, the typical coffee shop hipster could be recognized – written with an exaggeration – by tight pants, autumn-coloured shirts, braces, glasses with thick frames, existential novel, an avolatte and an expensive mobile phone on a cafe table and, of course, by a retro (vintage) bike parked in front of a popular fair trade & eco-friendly business. In all aspects of their being, hipsters strive for quality and creativity with originality.
