Extreme sports
can be given a definition of those in which a person goes through a certain danger, he incurs a risk and thus he is experiencing high stress. This causes the release of endorphins and other hormones that we describe as happy hormones. Extreme sports include many diverse activities; what we probably rank among the best-known are bungee jumping (jumping from a great height when a person is attached to a rope), paragliding (gliding through the air using a parachute glider), free diving (diving without a breathing apparatus), motocross or mountaineering. The reasons, why people are going for these sports, differ. Some individuals have a lack of excitement in their ordinary (too safe) life and thus satisfy their needs, others overcome the boundaries of im/possible and are being themselves, but a part of society tries to gain just sensations, attention and admiration of others in this way, to fill the existential emptiness.
